Clemson University – Arc Flash Hazard Analysis Master Planning

Live Oak Consultants (LOC) is working with Clemson University to develop an Arc Flash Hazard Analysis Master Plan for the main campus in Clemson, SC.  LOC’s industry-recognized Arc Flash risk assessment experts are developing a comprehensive master plan to identify and alleviate campus arc flash hazards.  Clemson University has a distinguished history, focused on the safety of its employees and students; Live Oak Consultants is honored to assist the University with their ongoing work & life safety efforts.

An electrical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program is required for work on energized electrical equipment in accordance with OSHA, NEC 2014 (110.16), and NFPA 70E.  The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires an employer to assess the workplace and identify hazards and select personal protective equipment that will protect the employee from the identified hazards (OSHA 1910.132 (d)(1)).  An employer is also required to use safety signs and tags to warn employees about electrical hazards (OSHA 1910.335 (b)(1)). The primary regulations are in 29CFR 1910 Subparts I, and S.  These can be broken down into three general areas – hazard identification and PPE selection, training, and proficiency.
