Blue Acorn Office Building
LOC was the lead engineering firm contracted by Blue Acorn to renovate an old existing 9,000 square foot warehouse (plus a 3,000 square foot addition) into an ultra-modern, open, collaborative work space/headquarters from which this e-commerce company utilizes data to help brands sell more goods. LOC teamed with a Charleston, SC architect – The Middleton Group, providing Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering as well as Piping and Plumbing Design.
LOC designed 45.5 tons of new HVAC in the form of 9 mechanical units to condition the densely populated office space; used exposed spiral ducts for distribution of HVAC throughout the structure which were integrated into the overall aesthetics of the interior space; concealed ductwork from view which were not part of the open bullpen area; provided robust/redundant cooling systems for the extensive server/I.T. room; designed new mechanical/piping/plumbing to accommodate restrooms, kitchen, break rooms, etc.
The existing warehouse required new electrical distribution and service throughout, structured cabling/infrastructure/raceways/cable trays, walls and partitions. LOC provided full design services for the new 3,000 square foot addition including the integration of the new space to the renovated warehouse space.
